Questions we’ll explore

When work no longer feels right, it’s natural to ask, “What job should I do?” But comparing more possibilities doesn’t always bring more clarity. What if there’s another place to begin?

Why does my work feel flat, even though I’m good at it?

Why doesn’t anything I look at feel like the right next step?

Do I stay, or do I leave? Or is there another option?

How do I work out what really matters to me in my work?

What happens in the hour

Why being capable at work and finding that work meaningful are not necessarily the same thing.

Good at it ≠ right for you

A simple map of five common starting points, to help you see where you are.

Where are you now?

About 20 minutes, unrehearsed, with one attandee who volunteers on the night.

A live career conversation

A few quiet minutes to try the same approach on your own experience, and leave with something to take away. Nothing to share unless you want to.

A clue from your own story

THE LIVE CONVERSATION

One attendee will join me for a short live career conversation. In a small group, there’s a real chance it could be you.

It’s a short, public conversation of about 20 minutes, not a full private session. You can offer on the night, or simply watch.

“Langdon creates clarity without forcing it, and a sense of psychological safety that allows something genuine to emerge.”

— Cirelle

Meet Langdon

YOUR HOST

I’m Langdon Rodda, a Career Counsellor. Over the past seven years I’ve worked one-to-one with people navigating career decisions and transitions; before that, I spent many years teaching adults, including migrants adapting to life in Australia.

What I’ve learned is that the search for a new direction doesn’t always begin with a list of occupations. My approach starts with your own experiences, looking for a thread of what has consistently mattered to you. This workshop is an opportunity to see something of that approach in practice.

What clients say

“After more than 20 years in the teaching profession, I was starting to wonder ‘what’s next?’ and ‘where to now?’ … I could never have found the headspace or capacity to step back and make sense of the big picture of my life. My sessions with Langdon did exactly that.”

— Kirk

“I came in looking for a more satisfying job, but the real shift was understanding what satisfaction actually means for me. From that clarity, it became much easier to know what I was looking for.”

— Andrew Bowden

Speaking is always optional, and you choose what you share. Cameras on help it feel like a real group, but you’re welcome to keep yours off.

The live conversation is with one volunteer who has read the participation information and chosen to take part. It won’t be recorded, and everyone is asked not to record or share what others say. NB: because this is a group, complete confidentiality can’t be guaranteed.

Questions people ask

Speaking is entirely optional, and no one is put on the spot. I encourage cameras on, because it makes the group feel more connected, but it’s your choice.

Do I have to speak or be on camera?

The live conversation isn’t recorded, and no replay is shared. If this ever changes for a future event, I’ll explain that clearly and seek separate consent.

Will it be recorded?

Is this for me if I mainly need help with applications or interviews?
